↳ Conman: “Huh, that's a strange turning point. I felt like that chapter did a great job of reaching that sweet spot between hard and soft magic systems like you said. Yeah, they made something virtually new, but it took them a long ass time using discovered concepts and rules that existed before. It wasn't a cheap win, they had a lot of setup for that payoff. You can still invent new things using existing concepts, that's how new stuff gets made. Otherwise how would people invent things? I highly doubt the author is a scientist. Nobody really pays attention to what 'Quantum' means, but sci fi series still use it. The science was never going to be sound because it's used to prop up a fantasy magic system. The fact it uses it as a foundation to springboard the fantasy aspects is for flavor. But there's still enough detail put it for it to be enjoyable despite it's non-real aspects. I'd love to know what specific rule-break had you feeling like it was half baked.” (4 likes)
